Microsoft Set To Bring Antivirus Software To Android And iOS

Currently Defender for mobile is in the development stages. The company, Microsoft, have announced that they have plans to bring their Defender antivirus software to both the iOS operating system as well as Android later in 2020.

Currently the software giant is developing apps for both of these mobile operating systems and this will allow them to provide antivirus prevention as well as a what they descripe as a”full command line experience”.

As yet, the company has not yet shared any of the details about the functionality of these apps. However there are plans to demonstrate and preview them at the soon to be held RSA conference. These mobile Defender apps are in all likelihood to be different than their desktop versions.  This is somewhat due to Apple not allowing apps to scan iOS for malware .

However with Android, Google’s mobile operating system, there is already a large number of Android antivirus apps. And these apps are capable of detecting malware in other installed apps that have been sideloaded onto the scanned device.

One if the main features is said to be phishing prevention for both Defender on iOS and on the Android operating system as is Microsoft aiming to protect businesses from having their employees unwittingly share their credentials such as usernames, passwords and other sensitive account information with potential attackers.
